Prayer of Sanctuary
Like the inner recesses of a seashell
for the creature who lives within,
is the sanctuary of God for me.
I am safe in the shelter of your presence,
and find rest in the shade of your spirit.
As a shepherd rescues an abandoned lamb
so you gather me into your arms
and hold me close to your heart.
No longer able to conceal my sorrows,
I offer you my tears
as they fall upon your lap.
you know every teardrop
And grieve with me the anguish of my soul.
Embraced in the warmth
of your everlasting love,
the power of your presence
saturates my soul with peace.
Your assurance is overwhelming;
I never have to leave this place.
I make my home in you
and you restore my soul.
You are my sanctuary.
From Psalm 31:7-8 . . . “I am overcome with joy because of your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul. You have not handed me over to my enemy but have set me in a safe place.”
